MSOC vs AC - Draw 0-0

On a dreary Saturday, October 5th, 2024, the winds whipped through Brandon, Manitoba, turning the soccer field into a battlefield of sorts. With temperatures hovering around 5°C and gusts reaching up to 50 km/h (31 mph), it was a day that would test any athlete. The Pilots faced off against the Cougars in a much-anticipated match, but as players stepped onto the pitch, it was clear that the elements would play a bigger role than either team. From the first whistle, the wind howled, sending balls soaring unpredictably and causing players to adjust their strategies on the fly

With the rain picking up in the second half, it seemed no team could net the ball. The Pilots continued to create chances through the 90 minute feat, but came up short as the final whistle blew.

WSOC vs AC - W 3-0 (AC Forfeit)
Unfortunately, the Assiniboine Cougars Womens soccer team forfeited the women's game, just 30 minutes before kick off time. A disappointing day for the Pilots, who traveled all the way to Brandon ready for a game, but they quickly turned their focus to the next day where they knew they were facing a tough opponent in the Bobcats at home. They walked away with an automatic 3-0 win.

OCT 6
MSOC vs BU - Draw 2-2

On a crisp Saturday afternoon, the atmosphere at the soccer field was electric as the Pilots took on the Bobcats in a thrilling encounter that would keep fans on the edge of their seats. With both teams eager to secure a win, the match was filled with intensity and a flurry of action.

The Pilots struck first when Joel Umeh converted a penalty in the 40th minute, a chance earned through the tenacity of Issac Aman, who was fouled in the box after a courageous run. The crowd erupted as Umeh calmly slotted the ball past the Bobcats' goalkeeper, putting the Pilots ahead just before halftime. However, the Bobcats were quick to respond. Just before the halftime whistle, in the 45th minute, they managed to equalize with a well-placed shot that caught the Pilots' defense off guard.

Emerging from the break with renewed energy, the Pilots quickly regained their lead. In the 48th minute, Umeh struck again, this time assisted by the ever-determined Aman, who set him up perfectly with a pinpoint pass. The crowd erupted once more, celebrating the quick succession of goals that put the Pilots ahead 2-1. But the Bobcats were far from finished. As the clock wound down, they pushed hard for an equalizer. Their persistence paid off in the 85th minute when they found the back of the net once more, leveling the score at 2-2 and sending the visiting fans into a frenzy.

The Pilots finish off the weekend with two draws, leaving them in 3rd place in the standings with a 3-3-3 record.

OCT 6
WSOC vs BU - Loss 1-2

In an electric atmosphere, the third clash between the Pilots and the Bobcats unfolded with intensity. Both teams entered the match tied in their series—each having secured a win in their previous encounters: the Bobcats on September 7th and the Pilots on September 21st. The stage was set for an epic rematch.

The Bobcats struck first, taking the lead just five minutes into the game with a beautifully executed free kick. The ball curled over the wall and into the back of the net, sending their supporters into a frenzy while leaving the Pilots needing to regroup.

Despite the early setback, the Pilots maintained their composure and pressed forward. They created several opportunities but struggled to find the finishing touch. It wasn't until the 67th minute that the Pilots finally broke through. Ava Temple scored a crucial equalizer, converting a well-placed corner from Laurianne Chiasson. The crowd erupted as Temple's shot found the net, and hope surged through the Pilots as they leveled the score at 1-1.

With the game hanging in the balance, both teams fought hard for dominance. As the clock ticked down, it seemed the match was destined for a draw. But in a heartbreaking twist, the Pilots made a critical mistake, drawing a penalty right outside the 18-yard box in the dying moments of the game. With just seconds remaining, the Bobcats stepped up to take the free kick. They found the back of the net in the 90th minute to clinch a dramatic 2-1 victory. The final whistle blew, leaving the Pilots to grapple with the sting of their second loss of the season.

The Pilots now sit in second place with a 6-2 record on the regular season.
