A Season of Banner Chasing: Pilots Set to Soar in 2025

Born to Fly, Destined to Soar

As the new year begins, the Providence Pilots are ready to embark on an exciting second semester filled with championship ambitions, individual achievements, and the thrill of hosting a national tournament. Here's a detailed look at what lies ahead for the Pilots.

Pilots Basketball

Women's Basketball

The Pilots women's basketball team kicks off their semester with a doubleheader in South Dakota against Sisseton Wahpeton College. The team enters 2025 on a high note after defeating conference rivals, the CMU Blazers, 67-63 at home, closing out the first semester with a perfect 4-0 record in the MCAC and 6-0 in the NIAC. Sophomore Faith LaRocque is a player to watch, sitting third in the MCAC for points per game (13.8) and second for rebounds per game (9.3). With their sights set on defending both their MCAC and NIAC championship banners from the 2024 season, the Pilots are on track for another successful run.

Men's Basketball

The men's basketball team resumes action on January 10th against Oak Hills Christian College in Minnesota. The Pilots currently hold a 2-2 MCAC record and a 4-2 NIAC record, with conference rivals CMU Blazers proving to be a challenging opponent. Senior Riley Paul leads the MCAC in scoring with 18.7 points per game and ranks fourth in rebounds per game. The team is determined to start the second half of the season with renewed energy and passion as they aim to reclaim their 2023 MCAC championship banner and add a NIAC title to their accomplishments.

Pilots Futsal

Women's Futsal

The women's futsal team kicks off their season on January 18th by hosting the first of four tournament weekends. They will face USB Les Rouges at 11:00 AM and the Assiniboine College Cougars at 4:15 PM. Following a 4-4-1 record in 2024 and a narrow semifinal loss to the Brandon Bobcats, the team is determined to improve their playoff standings this year. Sophomore Serena Negrich will lead the attack, while freshmen Hayley Medeiros, Jayda Codling, and Telah Mcvicker are expected to make significant contributions.

Men's Futsal

The men's futsal team begins their season on January 18th at CMU, with games against Assiniboine College (2:30 PM) and USB Les Rouges (6:00 PM). The Pilots finished 2024 with a solid 5-3-1 record but fell short in the semifinals against Les Rouges. Seniors Joel Umeh, Rashard Hibbert, Johannes Barnes, and Isaac Aman form a strong core determined to lead the team to the conference final. Freshmen Marco Downie and Mosi Williams are poised to make an impact as the Pilots strive for playoff success.

Women's Volleyball

The women's volleyball team enters the second semester undefeated (10-0), with high hopes of continuing their winning streak into the MCAC playoffs. Their ultimate goal is to rewrite program history by securing a banner that will send them to the CCAA Nationals for the first time. Among the group are MCAC league leading ladies Tyra Peters (3.44 kills per set), Kara Bartel (0.265 hitting percentage), and Amanda Bergen (8.97 assists per set) who will continue leading the charge for the Pilots. The team returns to action on January 11th against Assiniboine College.

Men's Volleyball

The men's volleyball team is preparing for a monumental semester, highlighted by their role as hosts of the 2025 CCAA National Tournament in Niverville, Manitoba, from March 5th to 8th.
