Pilots Soccer Wraps Up 2025 Season with Heart, Growth, and Momentum

The 2025 fall season saw the Providence Pilots men's and women's soccer programs take on two very different journeys—one powered by dominance, the other defined by resilience. Though their paths diverged, both teams showcased the character, work ethic, and unity that continue to elevate Pilots soccer.

Season Reflections

The Pilots' regular season was defined by pace, pressure, and team chemistry. Even when facing adversity, the group remained focused on their identity and work ethic—two pillars that carried them through close games and key turning points.

Team captain Sarah Friesen reflected on the year:

"With a solid core of returning players and a small but impactful freshman class, we started the season with energy and depth that set the tone from day one. We built confidence with each game and practice. Even when we faced challenges along the way, we stayed committed to our theme of being athletic and aggressive. Every setback became an opportunity to grow, and that resilience carried us through a season full of highs, lessons, and unforgettable moments together as a team.

Though we ultimately fell short in the final, what defined our season wasn't the outcome, it was how we responded to adversity. We were able to lean on each other and come back in many crucial moments. I'm incredibly proud of our growth, both on and off the field. However, what I'm most proud of is our culture. The selfless friendships we share are the most valuable thing about this team. Everything we have learned this season will shape our goals, our motivation, and the standard we want to set next year. A huge thank you to our seniors, coaches, and everyone who has supported us through it all. We couldn't have done it without any of you!"
— Sarah Friesen, 4th Year Defender & Team Captain

Despite a tough postseason result, the Pilots' trajectory remains unmistakably upward.

Men's Soccer: Fighting Through Adversity and Building for the Future

Season Reflections

The Pilots faced several difficult stretches but continued to build chemistry and identity throughout the season. Close games demanded resilience, and the group responded with effort, accountability, and belief.

Captain Karan Banghu summarized the journey:

"This season was definitely a different experience for us. We are used to finishing near the top, so ending the year near the bottom was a bit of a wake up call. Honestly, it pushed us to grow as a team. We faced some tough moments, but instead of letting it bring us down, it brought us closer together.

I'm really proud of how we stuck together through everything. Our chemistry kept building, and everyone bought into the culture and standard that we hold onto ourselves to. We learned a lot about resilience and accountability this year, which is a lesson we will be taking forward towards our futsal season. Hosting futsal playoffs coming up is a huge opportunity for us to reset and make a statement. People should definitely look forward to seeing us play, we are motivated, confident, and ready to show what we can do. A huge thanks to our seniors, for being committed and setting the standards for players coming in for what it means to be a pilot.

Thank you to our coaches for pushing us, and to all the fans for supporting us. We can't wait to see you guys create the best atmosphere in MCAC during playoffs."
— Gurkarandeep Banghu, 4th Year Defender & Team Captain

The postseason semifinal loss brings disappointment, but also determination. The team knows the next step—and is preparing to take it.

Looking Ahead

Two programs. Two stories.
Both united by the values of Pilots soccer.

The women established themselves as one of the top threats in the conference, while the men showed commitment and character that will drive future success. As both squads prepare for the next chapter—with experienced leaders returning, talent rising, and culture solidified—the foundation for continued growth is strong.

The Pilots will return next season ready to build on their identity, chase new milestones, and continue representing Providence with pride. Luckily for our fans, you won't have to wait till next September to watch the players in action. The 2026 MCAC Futsal season kicks off on January 17th right here in Otterburne!!

We'll see you there!
