Box Score 2 Women's Volleyball Sweeps Home Opener in Back-to-Back Five-Set Wins
The Providence Pilots women's volleyball team opened their home schedule with a perfect weekend, earning two hard-fought five-set victories over Université de Saint-Boniface at the CRRC.

On Friday night (Oct. 31), the Pilots outlasted the Les Rouges in a thrilling 3–2 win (25–19, 20–25, 19–25, 25–23, 15–12).
Veteran outside hitter Tyra Peters led the charge with 10 kills and 6 service aces. Zoe MacLellan was dominant at the net with 10 kills on .391 hitting, while setter Amanda Bergen dished out 25 assists to run the offense. Angelle Turenne added 4 kills and 2 aces, and Sophia Johnston anchored the defense with 10 digs.

The energy carried into Saturday (Nov. 1), where Providence once again pulled off a comeback five-set victory (18–25, 25–27, 25–17, 25–13, 15–10).
Peters delivered another standout performance, slamming 18 kills and picking up 12 digs. MacLellan continued her strong play with 4 kills on .333 hitting and 5 blocks assists, while Bergen collected 26 assists and 2 service aces. Turenne chipped in with 4 kills, 3 aces, and 5 digs as Providence improved to 3–0 on the season.

Men's Volleyball Splits Home-Opening Weekend
The Providence Pilots men's volleyball team opened their home schedule with a split against Université de Saint-Boniface, dropping Friday's match in five sets before responding with a victory on Saturday.
In Friday's season-opening thriller (Oct. 31), Providence came out strong but ultimately fell 3–2 (25–18, 23–25, 16–25, 25–19, 13–15).
Cayden Williams led the Pilots with 14 kills and 6 service aces, while Cole Doell added 12 kills on .333 hitting and 11 digs. Thomas Pain chipped in 8 kills and 3 blocks, and setter Marcus Zeilstra orchestrated the offense with 35 assists.

The Pilots bounced back in Saturday's rematch (Nov. 1), outlasting the Les Rouges 3–2 (25–18, 21–25, 25–13, 21–25, 15–13).
Jesse Vanden Berg delivered a dominant performance with 15 kills, 2 aces, and 2 solo blocks, while Will Soper added 14 kills and 6 digs. Lukas Klassen contributed 7 kills and 4 aces, and Jesse Peters distributed 42 assists to fuel the balanced attack. The Pilots hit .318 as a team in the win to even their record at 2-1 overall.

Women's Basketball Tests Themselves at Valley City State
The Pilots women's basketball team traveled south to face NAIA opponent Valley City State University for a pair of non-conference games. While Providence fell in both contests, the young squad gained valuable early-season experience.
In Friday's opener (Oct. 31), the Pilots were led by Faith LaRocque, who posted 16 points and 5 rebounds, while Sydney Last added 17 points, including 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. Fiona Garcia contributed 5 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals, and Lily Anderson recorded 3 steals off the bench.
Saturday's rematch (Nov. 1) saw continued growth despite a 98–51 loss. LaRocque again led the way with 15 points and 5 rebounds, and Last chipped in 16 points in another sharp shooting performance Nya Goulder grabbed 8 rebounds and a block, while Garcia added 8 points and 3 steals.
Providence will look to carry the lessons learned from the weekend into their upcoming MCAC schedule, as both programs continue to build toward conference play.
