Pilots Soar to Undefeated Finish, Capture 2026 MCAC Championship

Box Score

The Providence Pilots are champions once again.

In front of a packed and electric home crowd in Niverville, the Pilots defeated the CMU Blazers 69–58 to capture the 2026 Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) Women's Basketball Championship — capping off a perfect 8–0 season in the process.

With the undefeated record earning Providence the right to host the championship final in their home gym, the atmosphere was nothing short of special. The stands were filled to the brim with both Providence and CMU supporters, creating a championship environment that matched the moment.

A Complete and Unreal Finish

For Head Coach Kendall Perpall, recently named MCAC Coach of the Year, the win was the perfect ending to a dominant conference run.

"It feels amazing just to cap off an undefeated record with a championship. It feels complete and unreal."

Providence's balance, resilience, and ability to finish games all season long were on full display once again in the final.

When asked what coaching this group has been like, Perpall reflected on the makeup of the roster:

"It's been amazing, the returners that came back made it easy and led the way. The rookies came in and fit it in well and we figured it out, whether we had a good win, close win, or a big win. We always figured out a way to finish out the game."

That ability to close showed down the stretch as the Pilots held off every CMU push to secure the 11-point victory.

Key Performances in the Championship Win

Providence showcased a true team effort, with multiple players stepping up in crucial moments.

Faith LaRocque delivered a dominant performance inside, finishing with 17 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double. She controlled the glass with nine offensive rebounds and added two blocks, setting the tone physically. Rightfully so, she was awarded the championship MVP - in addition to her 2026 MCAC Player of the Year honors.

Fiona Garcia filled the stat sheet with 15 points, six rebounds, six assists, and six steals. Garcia also went a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line, knocking down critical shots to maintain Providence's lead.

All conference award winner Sydney Last contributed 15 points and five rebounds, attacking the rim and converting in key possessions to keep momentum on the Pilots' side.

On the defensive end, Abigail Nevitt anchored the paint with nine rebounds and two blocks, while Providence as a whole generated relentless pressure — highlighted by six steals each from Garcia and Adrian Alley.

The Pilots' defensive intensity and second-chance opportunities ultimately proved decisive, as they controlled the tempo and made key plays late to seal the championship.

Perfect Season, Bigger Goals Ahead

The 69–58 victory not only secured the MCAC title, but also completed a flawless 8–0 conference season — a testament to consistency, depth, and leadership throughout the roster.

Now, the Pilots turn their focus southbound as they prepare for the 2026 NIAC Championships and the National Christian College Athletic Association Regionals.

Perpall believes this championship provides more than just hardware — it provides momentum.

With confidence surging and chemistry peaking at the right time, Providence hopes this title run is only the beginning — with a few more trophies potentially making their way back to Otterburne.

The Pilots are champions. Undefeated. And not done yet.
